I have been so blessed to be living in this beautiful part of His world for almost 15 years. Perdido Bay United Methodist Church was the first church I visited and I never left. Why did I keep coming back? A couple dear women treated me with genuine hospitality and invited me to a loosely run, fun Sunday School class.

Hebrews 13:2   Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

When I arrived here January 1, 2003 I was a totally broken man with no hope and severely depressed. I was trying to survive using alcohol as my medicine. My wife had 6 months previous decided she did not want me for her husband and except for my dear terrier Georgia O’Keefe and my best friend Jeff, I felt unloved. When dear ladies Mrs. deJarnette and Mrs. Batson showed me such genuine interest and warmth my healing from my broken life began.

Tomorrow I will celebrate 13 years of continuous sobriety from alcohol. More important than that, I have been transformed into the man our Spirit God wants me to be.

Romans 12:2   Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is— his good, pleasing and perfect will.

My lifelong passion is being with Our Great Creator and loving all His creatures, plants, earth, and water. My calling has always been to be a steward of all he created.

I have several places I go to get close to Our Spirit God; Johnson Beach, Tarklin Bayou, Big Lagoon State Park, and last but not least, The Way.

I am beginning to share The Way with others; so many times I do not walk The Way alone. My favorite was with those four in the picture below. The fourth is my dear niece Miranda who took the picture.

My life is no longer broken. I am living The Dream. I dedicate this message of hope to those that are struggling with any Hurts, Habits, or Hangups in their lives.

Celebrate Recovery is held every Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. at Richards Memorial UMC. It is a biblical and balanced program to help people overcome their Hurts, Habits, and Hangups. It is one of the many missions Perdido Bay UMC supports.
