Frost Aster, Aster pilosus

A single plant of this erect, often profusely branched perennial, from 0.5-1.5 meters tall, may form a large clump 1 meter in diameter. the numerous flower heads each have fifteen to thirty-five “petals” or linear white ray flowers 5-10 mm long. Frost Aster is infrequent in dry open woods and clearing of west Florida at the southern limit of its range, which includes much of central and eastern north America.
